FRANK AIGBOGUN
FRANK AIGBOGUN is a journalist and the publisher of BusinessDay newspaper, which he co-founded in 2001.
Mr. Aigbogun who began his journalism career in 1982 at the Lagos Guardian newspaper, has served as the Lagos correspondent of the Associated Press, AP.
An alumnus of the Lagos Business School, Mr. Aigbogun who first studied Mass Communication, was both a member and alternate rapporteur for the sub-committee on competition and commercialization of the vision 2010, the committee that was appointed by the Nigerian government to chart a long-term economic vision for Nigeria.
Mr Aigbogun was a member of the board of Nigeria’s national competitiveness council and is a director of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, Nigeria’s premier economic think tank.
Mausi Segun, Executive Director of Human Rights Watch’s Africa Division, oversees the work of the division in approximately 30 countries. Segun joined Human Rights Watch in September 2013 as the senior researcher for Nigeria.

Segun has conducted field investigations to several parts of northern Nigeria, authored extended press releases and dispatches on the cycles of violence in north central Nigeria, the humanitarian crises, the abduction of girls and women and the violations committed by both sides in the Boko Haram insurgency in the northeast.
She has written pieces and opinions for the New York Times, The Independent UK, Sunday Independent SA, and Salon and has been quoted in the Huffington Post, Washington Post and other major news media.
Before Human Rights Watch, she worked with Nigeria’s National Human Rights Commission where, as southwest zonal coordinator, she worked tirelessly to document and promote human rights in six southwest states.
Prior to joining the Commission, she worked as a senior legal officer with the federal ministry of justice.
She has written countless papers on various rights and governance issues.
Mausi has a Bachelor of law degree from Obafemi Awolowo University Nigeria, and a Masters in Human Rights Law from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.

Dr. Nwachukwu Egbunike is a Senior Lecturer, School of Media and Communication and the Head, Pan-Atlantic University Press. He was Global Voices’ Regional Editor for Sub Saharan (Western, Central and Southern) Africa. His research agenda encompasses digital media, youth political participation, freedom of expression and digital authoritarianism.
Dr. Egbunike holds a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences (B.MLS) degree (specializing in Haematology and Medical Microbiology) from the University of Nigeria. He holds two Master degrees Master of Communication Arts and Master of Arts, and a PhD from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria.
Dr. Nwachukwu Egbunike
Dr. Egbunike started his journalism career as a cub-reporter in the Enugu bureau of National Light and Spokesman newspaper. He was formerly the Editor-in-Chief of AfricanHadithi and Global Voices’ Community Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa. Dr Egbunike has been active in Nigeria’s book publishing space since 2005 – as a book editor or publishing consultant for Spectrum Books, Evans Brothers Ltd, Bookcraft Nigeria and Feathers & Ink, respectively. Since 2011, he has been equally active in Africa’s online freedom of expression and digital rights space, as an advocate, journalist and digital media scholar.
Dr. Egbunike was the 10th Director of Irawo University Centre, Ibadan – a private hall of residence affiliated with the University of Ibadan. Under Egbunike’s watch, Irawo aided the development of young people in ‘character and learning’ as stipulated in the Act of Parliament establishing the University of Ibadan.
Dr. Nwachukwu Egbunike is the author of five books: Dyed thoughts: a conversation in and from my country (2012); Blazing moon (2015); Hashtags: social media, politics and ethnicity in Nigeria (2018); Nka (2021) and Digital Youth and Social Movements – Perspectives from Nigeria (2024)
Dr. Egbunike is a member of the Board of Directors of African Digital Rights Network.
Aishatu Ibrahim K. Bura is a devoted civil servant and journalist with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication and over three decades of experience.

Professional Background: Aisha has served in various public sector roles, including Information Attaché positions in ministries such as Women’s Affairs and Social Development, Budget and Planning, State Universal Primary Education Board, State Ministry of Housing and Energy, and the Ministry of Health and Health Management Board.
She also served as Press Secretary to the former Governor’s Wife and held roles at the Borno State Liaison Office in Kaduna and later Abuja. As a member of several Non-Governmental Organizations, Aisha actively engages in advocacy on societal and humanitarian issues, particularly focusing on Persons of Concern (POCs), including Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs), victims of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and Polio Eradication Awareness Campaign. Educational Background: Aisha’s educational journey includes attending Galdimare Primary School in Biu, the American International School of Islamabad, Pakistan, Armitage High School in The Gambia, Saint Augustine’s High School in The Gambia, and the University of Maiduguri. She obtained her B.A. in Mass Communication in 1989.
Adedeji (Deji) Adekunle
Adedeji (Deji) Adekunle is the Program Director of the Nigeria Media Innovation Program (NAMIP), an initiative of the Media Development Investment Fund where he supports media organizations on their journey to sustainability. He is a media development and innovation expert, and trainer, who has worked extensively in the West African media ecosystem in which he has helped advance data journalism, fact checking journalism and early-stage media professional development efforts. Deji is passionate about the future and resilience of the media given its role in building thriving societies amidst an ever-changing technological landscape.
Lanre Arogundade
Lanre Arogundade is the Executive Director of International Press Centre (IPC), Lagos-Nigeria and Editor-In-Chief of its online news portal and media resource, Nigerian Democratic Report – www.ndr.org.ng. Author of ‘Media and Elections: Professional Responsibilities of Journalists’, Mr. Arogundade has over three decades worked as a reporter and an editor in print and broadcast (Radio) media. He has also passionately engaged in media development and scholarly works including advocacy for press freedom, free expression and right to information advocacy; research, training, mentoring and editing of resource books.
Mohammed Idris, FNIPR, Minister of Information and National Orientation
Mohammed Idris stands at the helm of Nigeria’s information and national orientation landscape, appointed in August 2023 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Idris, a seasoned public servant, publisher, public relations professional, and politician, brings a wealth of experience to his role as Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation.

With a distinguished career, Idris has been at the forefront of the media and public relations industry as the Founder, Chairman, and Publisher of Blueprint Newspapers. His leadership extended to the Bifocal Group, a public relations consultancy, and Kings Broadcasting Limited, which operates the Abuja-based WE 106.5 FM, illustrating his significant influence in the communications sector.
His role as General Secretary of the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria (NPAN) prior to his ministerial appointment underscored his commitment and contributions to the media landscape in Nigeria. Furthermore, Idris played a pivotal role in political communications as the Director of Strategic Communications for the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) Tinubu—Shettima Presidential Campaign Council during the 2023 general elections, showcasing his strategic acumen and understanding of political narratives.
Born in the Gbako Local Government Area of Niger State, Idris’s holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, and Bayero University, Kano, respectively.
As the Minister of Information of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mohammed Idris is dedicated to transforming and modernizing the nation’s public information mechanisms. His vision includes fostering a conducive environment for media practitioners and businesses, ensuring their growth and prosperity within Nigeria’s vibrant media ecosystem.
Mr Tayo Oyetibo, SAN graduated from the University of Lagos in 1982 with a Bachelor of Laws Degree, Second Class Honours, Upper Division. He also obtained Second Class, Upper Division, at the Nigerian Law School in the Bar Final Examination in 1983, and won the Justice Lionel Brett’s Prize for the best performance in Criminal Procedure. Thereafter, he enrolled in the Master’s programme and obtained a Master of Laws Degree from the University of Lagos in 1985.
TAYO OYETIBO
He started his legal Practice at Gani Fawehinmi’s Chambers, in Lagos in 1984 . In 1991, he established his Law Firm TAYO OYETIBO & CO. In 2016, his Firm transmuted into a limited partnership and became known as TAYO OYETIBO LP.
Mr Tayo Oyetibo SAN has, since his call to the Bar, been involved in active legal Practice and many of the cases handled by him are reported in various Law Reports.
In 2003, Mr Oyetibo was conferred with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee.
In 2010, Mr Oyetibo was appointed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as a member of a team of consultants to the National Assembly of Nigeria, to advise on the First and Second Amendments to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, and the amendments to the Electoral Act which were carried out in that year.
