Who We Are
We are a team of dedicated professionals committed to supporting and advocating for businesses in all sectors.
Powering Inclusive Development Through Journalism
The BusinessDay Foundation is a nonprofit initiative advancing the role of media as a driver of inclusive development in Nigeria. We work at the intersection of journalism, innovation, and civic engagement — strengthening media capacity, deepening public understanding of development issues, supporting economic inclusion, and generating insights that inform better decisions.
We believe journalism is more than a mirror to society; it is a force that can shape it. From policy halls to rural markets, bustling newsrooms to digital platforms, our mission is to ensure journalism remains resilient, relevant, and representative.
We power this vision through four core pillars:
- Media Capacity Building
- Media for Sustainable Development
- Inclusive Economy and Innovation
- Strategic Insights
Together, these pillars help us equip storytellers, engage communities, and build ecosystems that advance equity and unlock opportunity.

What we do
Catalysts for Inclusive Development
At the BusinessDay Foundation, we believe media can unlock economic potential and shape inclusive futures. Our work is grounded in four key pillars that strengthen journalism, empower people, and foster economic development:
Media Capacity Building
We train journalists and citizens alike promoting ethical reporting, critical thinking, and civic engagement to build a more informed and resilient society.
Media for Sustainable Development
We tell stories that matter. Our multimedia campaigns and partnerships drive awareness and mobilize action on development issues like gender equity, digital inclusion, and climate sustainability.
Inclusive Economy & Innovation
From MSMEs and informal markets to tech hubs and trade, we support inclusive growth through narrative, research, development networks and partnerships.
Strategic Insights
We connect data to dialogue. Our research and policy work provide the evidence and analysis needed to shape public discourse and decision-making in ways that promote equity and accountability.
IMPACT
Changing the Narrative, Shaping the Future
We believe programs must be designed to inform, empower, and build bridges between citizens and government, business and society, data and decision-making.
Our impact is both measurable and meaningful; grounded in the belief that inclusive development starts with informed societies. Some of our impact highlights include:
Driving Fiscal Transparency through Policy Dialogue
In 2023, the BusinessDay Foundation hosted a high-level
Policy Intervention Series focused on Nigeria’s Bond Issuance Programme for 2024. By convening government officials, economists, and market leaders, the Foundation helped bridge critical gaps between policy design and public understanding—reinforcing our role in advancing evidence-based dialogue and fiscal transparency.
The Africa Trade and Investment Summit (ATIS) is a convening platform established by the BusinessDay Foundationto drive cross-sector dialogue and media coverage around the future of trade, enterprise, and economic collaboration on the continent.
ATIS 2024 brought together leading voices from across Africa’s public and private sectors to discuss regional economic integration, investment flows, and the untapped opportunities in intra-African trade. It was designed to not only spotlight trade and investment prospects but also amplify the role of media in shaping bold, constructive narratives around African development.
The summit was driven by three core objectives:
- Positioning media as a tool for economic developmentthrough responsible reporting on policy and trade opportunities
- Fostering investor and policymaker engagementin ways that prioritize inclusion, sustainability, and innovation
- Promoting African economic agencyby elevating African voices, solutions, and trade ecosystems on the global stage
